What Happens at an NDIS Meet and Greet at Gamely Connect

Trying a new NDIS provider can feel like a lot - even when you're excited about it. There's the uncertainty of a new space, new people, and not really knowing what you're walking into. That's exactly why we offer a meet and greet before anyone commits to anything.

This post walks you through what our meet and greet actually looks like, so there are no surprises.

What Is an NDIS Meet and Greet, and Why Do We Do It?

An NDIS meet and greet is essentially a no-pressure first visit - a chance for you to see the space, ask questions, and get a feel for whether Gamely is the right fit. There's no obligation to sign up, and no expectation that you'll know exactly what you want going in. Starting at a new support service can bring up a lot of anxiety, and we'd rather take that pressure off up front than have someone walk in on day one feeling unsure.

Who Runs It?

Your meet and greet will be facilitated by one of our Heads of Player Success - the team members at Gamely who focus specifically on participant outcomes and making sure people are set up well from the start. They're not there to tick boxes. They're there to get to know you.

What Actually Happens

When you arrive, you'll get a tour of the space - the gaming PCs, the racing simulators, the board game collection, the D&D setup. It's a sensory-friendly environment, and part of the visit is just getting comfortable in it before sessions begin.

From there, the conversation is pretty relaxed. We'll ask about the kinds of games you're into, what you're hoping to get out of coming, and whether there's anything we should know to make your sessions work better for you. Goals, sensory needs, communication preferences - all of that is useful, and none of it is judged.

We can also talk you through the practical stuff: how sessions run, what the days and times look like and how transport works if that's relevant. If you're a support coordinator or carer accompanying a participant, this is a good time to ask the questions you need answered too.

By the end of it, we'll have a much clearer picture of which session group would be the best fit - and you'll have a much clearer picture of what you're actually signing up for.

From there you can choose to think about it, or if you're ready to get started we can assist you with the onboarding paperwork in this session. The paperwork consists of our Onboarding Form which asks all the questions we need to create support plans, risk assessments and emergency plans to be able to deliver the quality supports you deserve. This is the longest form and can take 15-20 mins. Then we go through the Service agreement and Program of Support. This entails a run through of that they mean and only takes a few minutes each.

All of these forms can also be sent to you later to complete in your own time if you prefer.

Do I Need to Bring Anything to my NDIS Meet and Greet?

Not much. If you already know you might want to sign up during your meeting, it's helpful to bring your NDIS info and contact details for your support coordinator and plan manager (if relevant). But you don't need to have everything sorted before you visit - we can work through the details together.

What Happens After?

If Gamely feels like the right fit, we'll sort out the rest of the paperwork and get you matched to a session. We also often liaison with your Support Coordinator to confirm things such as funding. This process often takes around1-3 weeks between your meet and greet and starting your first session.

If it's not the right fit, that's okay too. We'd rather you find a service that actually works for you.

Starting somewhere new can be hard - the meet and greet exists to make that first step a bit smaller.

If you want to book one, you can do that through our website at gamelyconnect.com.
