At Gamely Connect, our team isn't just passionate about gaming - they genuinely care about creating spaces where neurodiverse individuals can be themselves and build real connections. Every staff member brings their own unique gaming interests, support experience, and personality to our sessions, creating the welcoming community our participants love.

Behind every D&D campaign, racing simulator session, and board game afternoon, there are real people who understand both the power of play and the importance of authentic support. They're the ones cheering on victories, helping navigate challenges, and making sure everyone feels valued and included.

We sat down with one of our Support Workers Jess to chat about her gaming journey and what makes Gamely special to her.

What's your earliest gaming memory, and how did it shape your love for games?

When I was 8 years old, my Dad bought my brother and I a Playstation 2 with Singstar and Need for Speed Underground 2. That was the start of many afternoons after school of my brother and I connecting through gaming and fun! Over the years we went through every console you could imagine, sharing the gaming love with friends and neighbours too. I’ve always seen games a chance to connect and share joy with others.

Console, PC, or tabletop - what's your preferred gaming platform and why?

I am a big Nintendo (Switch) and tabletop gaming fan! For me, nothing beats a cosy game to unwind! Or the chance to laugh and make memories with friends and family through a good board game.

What's the most rewarding moment you've experienced at Gamely Connect?

During their second session, a participant confided in me that they felt so grateful to finally have a space where they didn't have to mask at all. They felt safe to be themselves. In this safe and supportive environment, I've watched them (and other participants) make beautiful connections. To be able to foster that space and opportunity for others to connect and be themselves is the most rewarding thing to experience.
