A Conversation with Jess

We sat down with one of our Support Workers, Jess, to chat about her gaming journey and what makes Gamely special to her.

What's your earliest gaming memory, and how did it shape your love for games?

When I was 8 years old, my Dad bought my brother and me a PlayStation 2 with SingStar and Need for Speed Underground 2. That was the start of many afternoons after school, connecting through gaming and fun! Over the years, we went through every console you could imagine, sharing the gaming love with friends and neighbours too. I’ve always seen games as a chance to connect and share joy with others.

Console, PC, or tabletop - what's your preferred gaming platform and why?

I am a big Nintendo (Switch) and tabletop gaming fan! For me, nothing beats a cosy game to unwind. I love the chance to laugh and make memories with friends and family through a good board game.

What's the most rewarding moment you've experienced at Gamely Connect?

During their second session, a participant confided in me that they felt so grateful to finally have a space where they didn't have to mask at all. They felt safe to be themselves. In this safe and supportive environment, I've watched them (and other participants) make beautiful connections. To foster that space and opportunity for others to connect and be themselves is the most rewarding thing to experience.
